This is an e-newsletter for IT professionals interested in fast data management and targeted data protection. The CoSort Journal features topics salient to IRI software users and business partners, including updates to products, solutions, channels, and services.

Seamless Spreadsheet Security
IRI has created an affordable add-in for Microsoft Excel® 2010 and 2013 that will mask, encrypt, and pseudonymize selected data inside spreadsheets. Using some of the data concealment and revelation functions of IRI FieldShield®, IRI CellShield™ users can protect their own spreadsheets, and share their .xls/x files safely. Given the right information, other CellShield (or FieldShield) users can decrypt or restore the protected data. See the press release here, and get CellShield here; use the code Q42014NL for a 10% discount.

Switching Databases?
The DBMS edition of IRI NextForm does the heavy lifting of database (DB) migrations by mapping multiple tables from one DB to another. This blog article shows how the NextForm multi-table migration wizard connects your on-line sources, defines and applies cross-table mapping rules, and then creates and populates tables in the target DB. To address other aspects of DB migration, including procedures and triggers, contact IRI Professional Services.

Preparing Unstructured Data for Splunk
Splunk is not designed to index data from most dark, or unstructured, data sources, despite the fact that companies have a lot of potentially useful information within them. The Unstructured Data edition of IRI NextForm bridges the gap between Splunk and these untapped data sources. See this article for details.

Tech Tip: Migrating COBOL Vision Files
To convert ACUCOBOL Vision files, you will need to express your data layouts in /FIELD notation for IRI NextForm or IRI CoSort (SortCL). This article shows three ways to derive the metadata for migration.

Accelerating Big Data Analytics
As with Tableau last quarter, recent POCs show that IRI CoSort is a smart data preparation option for Revolution Analytics and Spotfire visualizations too. CoSort integrated 20 million records twice as fast as R, and four times faster than Spotfire, on a standard PC. Browse the blog articles in this section to see the performance improvements CoSort also provides for Business Objects, Cognos, Microstrategy, and Tableau.
