"My weight loss journey has been filled with a lot of highs and lows. I was on vacation with my family and put some pictures on Facebook, and I got some unsavory comments out of concern from friends about my weight. Lol...somebody asked if I was pregnant, while some poked fun at me by crediting my weight gain to consuming too many burgers and beer. I had a talk with my doctors, and we decided I needed to change my eating habits, cut certain medication, and get lots of rest whenever I needed it, because I work the night shift. So, I started Insanity (home video program), quit the first time, struggled to complete it the
second time, got toned but the weight just came right back.
In July 2014 I found CDFIT online and I told my doctor about it. Once again, he recommended I walk daily, and eat properly for a month. Then ease my way into the intensity CDFIT was offering, and that I did and joined in August 2014. I did the 2 months Groupon trial and after the 4th month I figured it was time to quit. I got some tone but my scale wasn't moving. I told Clarence and Judson of my intent to quit, and of course the $90 fee wasn't sounding appealing to me either. Judson and I had a heart to heart and we figured the problem was from my eating habits aka frequent restaurant visits and big appetite for my grandma's/big sister's home cooking and pastries. "80% of weight loss happens in the kitchen/You cant buy it in a bottle or a pill"- Judson... so I continued my
In January 2015 I purchased my first pair of skinny jeans, and I was ecstatic! Then I participated in the weight loss challenge in March 2015. I wanted to win soo badly, I worked out 3x daily, while working nights, I was on a roll. Once again I was so focused on the scale I didn't credit myself for going from a size 10 to 6. My friends family and co-workers always commended me but I didn't see what they saw. I was disappointed but this time I kept my membership but showed up maybe once or twice a week or sometimes not at all. Suddenly my size 8 clothes started getting tight, My size medium and small shirts started feeling tight again, I looked at pictures from when I was consistent and eating healthier then it dawned on me, I was going backwards. I came back to class
and was accepted with open arms, although I got the occasional sermon on the benefits of being consistent from Jud, that spurred me on to give it my best.
Today I am a happy 146 pounder (started at 165 lbs), wearing size 6 pants (started at a size 10). My self confidence is through the roof, I stare at my arms and I'm like OMG, these are mine. I have accepted that muscle weighs more than fat and in order for me to achieve my goals and stay healthy for life, I have to make good eating and exercise a lifestyle. Every time I complained about how hard the work out was or I rolled my eyes when Jud said, "come on B stop day-dreaming and get back to work", his response was, you'll hate me now but you'll love me later. He was right.
I didn't get here on my own so I'd like to give a special shout out to my star trainers, Judson and Dub, the CDFit family members Kim, Kevin, Clyde, Cory, Jay, Leslie, Tanisha, Sam, Tierra, Sondra, George, Steve, my dearest sister who joined CDFit while on her 3 weeks vacation from Nigeria and of course Clarence aka the brain behind CDFit. I love you guys dearly. I hope my story encourages somebody whose on the fence about quitting or beginning the program. You have an athlete in you that's begging to come out. The best $90 I ever spent, well worth it. I'm not saying you should cut out home good cooking, the secret is knowing when to push back from the table. wink..lol"
