Children's mental health eBooks for your class

Dear teacher,

Iris the Dragon charity is proud to release the digital versions of its highly respected children's mental health books designed for kids, parents, educators, and health care practitioners — these resources are free.

We are subject matter experts in children's mental health education and we are supported by major U.S. and Canadian organizations such as NAMI, SAMHSA, Federation of Families for Children's Mental Health, the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario, the Royal Bank of Canada, the Canadian Armed Forces, Onex Corporation, and more.

Our books change kids’ attitudes about their mental health & wellness:

  • we use storytelling as a vehicle to influence behaviour in 7 to 12 year olds
  • all of our content is medically vetted and endorsed
  • our narrative formula has been empirically tested with significant change results
  • we are MHCC* & NAMI* approved
  • our books can be used alone or with our curriculum-aligned program for teachers

* Mental Health Commission of Canada & the National Alliance on Mental Illness

What Kids, Teachers, Parents, and Advocates have to say about Iris the Dragon

"Dear Iris the Dragon - I read your book about Skippy and it was great. I think Skippy was great name for that character. I could compare some many things she has problems with to me. Sometimes I have a hard time listening to my parents and then I start to argue but that makes every worse then it is already. I understood what it feels to have that kind of problem because I have problems too."
— excerpt from a letter sent to us from an 11-year old girl

"We know that mental health issues show up in the elementary level. Too many people wait too late (to intervene)."
— Diane Dewing, Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario

"This is exactly the kind of support - something that really helps - that our forces need. Thanks to the author of this book the charity, and to CBC for publicizing these efforts."
— Ottawamom, via CBC comments

Healthy communications and open dialogue being the keys to success, this book plays a vital role as the catalyst for discussions and the sharing of feelings amongst military family members."
— Lieutenant General Walter Semianiw, Canadian Armed Forces

(re: Catch a Falling Star) "...I applaud your efforts to increase awareness and understanding of mental illnesses. I look forward to reading it. And it's beautiful!
— Mrs. Rosalynn Carter, First Lady of the United States of America (Ret.)
