NEW

A whole New Year! Out with the old, the tired, the worn, let’s make all things new! After all we’re tired of the old stuff and some new stuff would be great!

Indeed, Paul writes in his second letter to the Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” You and I dear Christian friends don’t need a new year or some new stuff to be made new. Christ has done that for you. I know, some of you feel like you need some new parts as the ravages of age are taking toll, but in Christ you are made new every morning. The new life given to you by the death and resurrection of your Savior gives you freedom to act and perform loving acts to your neighbor as if you were a new being each morning.

In this New Year, our family of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church is given new life as well through new members, new opportunities, and the new blessings that will continue to manifest themselves in our new home. There will be challenges, but turning those challenges into opportunities is what we new people are all about.

An event that excites most of us is coming upon us very quickly as we prepare for our annual Mardi Gras party and Cajun Boil. Plans have begun and you will hear more about it in the coming days. But on February 9, we will have the opportunity to host and enjoy neighbors from throughout the community. I encourage all of you to pray for another successful event, and volunteer in whatever way you can in order to help us make this into another joyous and glorious celebration for all the gifts that God has given to Holy Trinity.

The morning after that great celebration, February 10, is Ash Wednesday and once again we enter into a penitent season approaching the great passion and then the culmination of the church year at Easter. Invite your friends and neighbors alike to be refreshed and renewed in Christ.

Indeed it’s hard during a cloudy, cold, wintry day to think of things being new. But each day the sun shines longer, each day we have the opportunity to share the joy we feel together in being redeemed by Jesus, and we are made NEW!

A Message from the Council -

Happy New Year!

We are beginning our first full calendar year at our new home.  The council is always interested in hearing your ideas.  If you do have any ideas to share please let us know!

Although the mad Christmas shopping season is over, the Amazon Smile campaign continues through the year.  Remember that one-half of one percent of eligible purchases will be donated to Holy Trinity Lutheran so as you shop through the year, use our Amazon Smile account and help our Family grow!

Evangelism Committee

During Christmas time, we visited with our neighbors and took them a small gift.  It was a blessing to get to hear their stories and the stories of the owner that lived where our church is.  They sound like a wonderful family and I wish we could have all met them.  While meeting with our neighbors, we found that two of them were considering coming to our church to hear God's word.  What a gift it was to listen to the question being asked - What time is your service, can we join you?  We would like to challenge each of you to do the same, but with your neighbors.  Go out and share the excitement we have about God's word with them and invite them to join us.  There are information cards at the church if you would like to share those with them.  It was so much easier than we thought it would be.   Try it.  You too will be surprised!

**Evangelism Events on the horizon**

Human Care

The Human Care Committee is excited to launch a Holy Trinity Food Pantry! The food pantry will be used for providing a variety of non-perishable food items and basic necessities to families in need.

We are asking for your help in stocking our shelves. Items currently needed are: canned soup, stew, chili, spaghetti sauces, pasta, cereal, canned vegetables, canned fruit or any other non-perishable food items you can think of. Some basic necessities might be small dish soap, toilet paper, paper towels, etc.

Please leave your donations in our kitchen, on the counter, labeled for the food pantry.

Thank you so much for your generosity!

Donation Possibilities

Every year, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and School anticipates and relies on a seasonal increase in contributions. It is through the donations of every individual and family in the congregation that we are able to carry on our work now and throughout the year.

If you need a convenient way to make a recurring contributions or plan to make an additional gift before the end of the year, we encourage you to check out our electronic giving options. As the pace of life speeds up around the holidays, you may find electronic giving a most welcome way to make contributions.

To set up a recurring giving schedule, visit us online at holytrinityut.org and locate the Online Giving button OR use the QR scan code below.  If it's easier, complete a paper authorization form and return it to the church office.
