Can you think of anything with a more polar opposite meaning than May Day?
On one hand, you have historic images of a European villages celebrating spring while children dance around a pole tied with colorful ribbon streamers. Quaint, festive, cute - Happy May Day. Now imagine a crippled boat, stranded at sea with occupants in grave and imminent danger. ie. fire, explosion or sinking. Frantically spitting out a final message before the electronics quit. MAY DAY..MAY DAY. Horrific, tragic, frightening - Unhappy May Day. Can there be a connection here? Yes. Whether you're enjoying a fine spring day, dancing around a May Pole, or have been floating a drift for days at sea, clinging to the one remaining plank from your SS Minow in shark infested waters, lips sun burnt parched, gasping for life and no signs of help or land on the
horizon, you're probably thinking - Hey! Some Henweigh BBQ Ribs would greatly improve this situation. Henweigh BBQ Ribs have always come in full and half rack portions. But now, May Day, introducing the Henweigh "BBQ Rib Plate" 1/3 rack size, smoked low and slow, lathered with house made Henweigh Q sauce, served with Fries and Dabba Slaw for just $12.95. Happy May Day and if you are boating this season, be safe - always check your mechanics and safety devices before voyaging.

It would be impossible to write briefly about moms or a mother's importance. Where would I start? My mom? A great one of course - Love ya mom.
How about Mother Goose? MG is certainly well known to all, but how cool is this? I just discovered she may have been a Bostonian (like me). A Mary Goose, mother of six, lived in Boston in the late 1600s....on Pudding Lane, how cute.
Another famous Mother? How about Mother Hubbard? We all know the 1st verse of the poem, but the full version transcribes quite an ordeal MH had with her dog. A mischievous mutt, but like any doggies, he would still be allowed on the Henweigh Cafe's dog friendly patio
(with MH) if he could behave for a while and not smoke his pipe.
More? How about the unsung heroic mom known only anonymously as the"Old Woman". Yes a mother officially called the "Old Woman". And if that isn't degrading enough, how would you feel knowing she lived in a shoe......with so many children, she didn't know what to do! Boy, at least Kate and the (infamous) Octo-mom could count their kids.
One more? Hmm, a mother worthy enough to close this segment? You all know it....definitely a mother...can be a girl or a guy (my oldest brother was one)...Got it yet? Drum roll please...Yes, Mother Hen.............weigh - BAM! |
