DISASTER MANAGEMENT RESOURCE CENTRE

1. Completed Installation of Raised Hand Pumps 

The construction of the 10 raised hand pumps has been completed in the month of May, 2014, among 2 Gram panchayats (GN-3 &GN-4) of Kaiserganj Block and along with this altogether 29 raised hand pumps have been installed in program villages. These raised hand pumps have been installed in the flood prone areas so that people can get safe drinking water during the flood prone days. These raised hand pumps are safe to get drinking water and do not sink even in the flood.  

Through the raised hand pumps they are getting safe drinking water and they are using these hand pumps more in comparison of ground level installed hand pumps.

2. Training for HDC on Micro Planning

A two days training on village micro planning was organized at SSK Lucknow among 29 HDC members on 27th and 28th May, 2014. In addition to their roles & responsibilities of HDC and how to plan at micro level, movies on Micro planning (Spandan) and SWARAJ (Hibre Bazaar) were also shown them.

Hamlet Development Committee (HDC) is the group of people among the community who are actively participating in the developmental actions and programme activities at field level by panchayat and SSK. It was needed to be prepared them upon the planning process and their roles along with responsibilities.

3. Training for Women on Personal Hygiene  

With a objective of promoting women WASH brigade is to cater and access water, sanitation and hygiene behavior and services to the women folk of flood prone areas a three day long (28-30 May) training have been organized among female animators and female staff, on personal hygienic issues by SSK. The facilitation of the training was done by the Vatsalya organization.

4. Meeting with Adolescent Girls-Women on WASH During Flood:

Meetings with adolescent girls and women were conducted at field level by the Development Trainees among all GPs in connection to the total social inclusion in WASH awareness. The meetings were focused on women personal hygienic issues during the flood.

It was found in the meeting that women face many big problems regarding female sensitivity and sanitation; they feel helpless and frustrated during the days. During the meetings following discussions were made:

  •  
    • Problems regarding sanitation during and without the flood.
    • Hygienic condition during menstruation and how they manage it in flood.
    • Medical support (vaccination, IFA tablets) at the Purwa level during the pregnancy.
    • Women avoid taking food during flood due to the fear of the defecation practice.
    • Safe drinking water problems in the flood and fear of different reptiles and snakes.
    • Non availability of government primary health facilities women and child related diseases.

5. Meetings with HDC and Task Force by Animators:

Project Animators had conducted series of meetings for HDC and Task Force in all Gram Panchayats on the WASH practices, flood preparation and skill building training of youths, capacity building of HDC members on their roles among gram panchayat as HDC. Some developmental issues amongst the GPs were also discussed in the meetings. During these meeting, flood preparation was focused with priority. 

Other agendas of these meetings:

*   Mobile kiosk and video shows run in the hamlets and their impact.

*  Flood preparation by fellow community people with focus on elevated house and hand pumps for facing the upcoming annual flood safely for minimize the loss.

* Villager’s active participation in open meeting of Gram Sabha on development needs and issues of their villages.

*  Preparing local neediest youths for the skill building training on mobile repairing

*   WASH practices by children to develop their habit

* DRR plan of their hamlets and status of problems mentioned in the plan with responsible person and focused on the incorporation of the plan in the Panchayat Plan for development.

* Maintenance, ownership and proper utilization of critical equipments (siren, mobile phones, boats, mega mike, first aid box and hand pumps etc.) given by SSK.

* Essentials of preparation for EWS, First Aid, Social inclusion, search & rescue and WASH practices during the flood.

6. Night Video Show on WASH for Community

To make villagers aware about the flood generated issues, unhygienic WASH practices and stay safe, 24 video shows on WASH were run through the projector machine at 7:00 pm in the 7 Gram Panchayats in the month.

The video have been shown to the community for extension of awareness of them upon the identified issues, problems & non compensatory harms due to flood and fire, in the flood prone areas of Bahraich and Barabanki districts which are the intervention areas of SSK.

The discussions were made on the issues shown in the movie by the team and community members. During the video shows the community was taking the interest and understanding the theme of the movie and observing their condition meanwhile the flood and how it harms during the flood and after the flood. An explanation on the movie was also given to the community during the discussion on the WASH practices.

The following discussions were made with the community during the shows:

  •  
    • Introduction of programme and SSK to the community to pull villagers attention towards the main objective.
    • The community was also sensitized and motivated to understand the importance of the WASH practices depicted in the movie, related to flood and its impacts and asked that if the things are shown actually happened in the same situations in the real life.
    • Community members were also invited to share views on the movie and they focused on the hygienic and unhygienic practices during the flood.

7. Awareness Street Play on WASH:

To reduce the impact of fatal diseases due to the unhygienic practices and stay of much squalor and garbage which villagers became affected form the squalor, total 12 street plays and puppet shows were organized in 8 hamlets of Godahiya No.-3 and 4 hamlets of Godahiya No-4 of Kaiserganj block for disseminating the information of WASH practices through entertainment which impact upon community. The community had learnt the importance of being aware towards health issues due to unhygienic practices during flood in particular and normal situations in general.

8. Participation in Social Media Workshop

To understand the concept, importance of social media in linking with funding sources and sharing with different stakeholders, a workshop was organized and facilitated by the Breakthrough (Human Rights Group) at SSK Lucknow on 20th May, 2014. In the workshop Kaiserganj (DMRC) and Sitapur (GRC) teams have participated actively. During the workshop following topics were discussed:

  •  
    • Introduction of all participants in brief.
    • Introduction of the Breakthrough organization and its work fields.
    • Purpose sharing of the workshop.
    • Detailed discussions on the social media and different wings of the media.
    • Detailed discussions on the face book and how to create a page and it use at organizational level.
    • Detailed discussion on the twitter, flicker and YouTube for their organizational use for connecting the funding agencies for aid to programme.
    • Group exercises upon these different wings (Face book, twitter, flicker, YouTube etc.) for the use programme progress.

9. Mobile Kiosk

The mobile kiosks were set up among the 7 Gram panchayats among 24 Purwas, in the month for dissemination of information on the WASH practices during the flood and in the normal days. The community was also distributed the posters during the kiosk and they were also explained the posters and their use.

  •  
    • 5 types of posters on the different topics related to WASH practices were distributed and informed on the use of the posters.
    • Importance of WASH practices during flood and normal situations.
    • Fatal diseases generated due to the flood and use of contaminated water.
    • Discussion was made on the harms of open defecation and use of the safe defecation.
    • Discussion was also done on the use of raised hand pumps during the flood.

10. Follow up with Children on WASH

Regular follow up of the children regarding WASH practices is being done by the animators and team during the field movement. In the month of May, 14, interaction with school going children, in all GPs, was done on the WASH practices and open defecation related issues. During the interaction with children they were asked about using the WASH kit, distributed in the School WASH Training Programme, for promoting WASH practices. The school teachers were also checking regular cleanliness of the children in school.

The practice on hand washing was also done among the children by the Development Trainees.

The following things were checked and discussed with children:

*  General cleanliness (nails cutting, teeth brushing, clean clothing, hair combing, hand washing and bathing etc.) was checked up of children.

* It was also known, if they are washing their hands properly.

*  General questions on the use of WASH kit & practices, open defecation and if they are telling to their peer groups on the WASH practices.

11. New Disaster Risk Reduction Plan

One new DRR plan was prepared in new Gram Panchayat Godahiya N0-3 with the help of HDC members and Citizen Leaders and supported by the SKK team. During the planning of DRR plan in the Purwas a social map was prepared on the ground surface by the community for understanding the proper situation of resources and extension of community. Meanwhile the planning of DRR in the Purwa, the following steps were taken:

  1.  
    1. The transect walk of the hamlet was done by the team along with the community for developing an understanding on the available public/private resources and geographical situation.
    2. An assessment of the impacts of the flood and persisted problems due to the heavy flood during the last one and two years ago in the hamlet, was done by the community and team has facilitated them.
    3. After understanding the geographical situation and assessing the impacts of the flood during the past years, Social Mapping of the Purwa was done by the community.
    4. The matrix, a format for collecting the demographic information of the hamlet, was also filled during the social mapping and planning.

Finally detailed information on the resources (boats, animals, means of ommunication & transportation, wells, ponds and hand pumps etc.) was generated from the community through themselves.

12. Review of Disaster Risk Reduction Plan

Disaster Risk Reduction plan review, was done in 02 Purwas (Hans Ram Purwa, Munim Purwa) in Ahata Gram Panchayat of Jarwal block. The review was done, by the community with the support and facilitation of SSK team, to evaluate and update the last prepared DRR plan. During the review meeting of each Purwa, HDC members, CLs and community members were presented. During the review meeting, the discussions were made on the changes in the plan such as solved and unsolved problems in the community which are needed to be solved. The following points were discussed in the meeting:

  •  
    • Social map of the Purwas was reviewed and updated (if any home is made with concrete or new built) by the community and it was supported by the team.
    • Review of the demographic situation of the Purwas was done for evaluating the population of Purwa; if there any family has migrated or joined.
    • An evaluation of the private/public resources (boats, hand pumps useable/unusable, animals, means of communication and transportation etc.) available in Purwa was done and changes were also discussed in the review of the plan.
    • Impact of the flood among the community in the last year was also analyzed.
    • Vulnerability (economic, social, educational, health and cultural etc.) of the community was also assessed according to the last flood impact on the community.
    • Point wise discussion on the last prepared DRR plan by the community was also done for identification of new issues/problems among the community for removal solved problems and consisting new ones.

13. Monthly Meeting of Animators 

Animator’s monthly meeting was conducted on 24th May, 14 at SKK, Kaiserganj field office facilitated by the SSK team and Mr. Sadeque Hussain (S.P.C-SSK, Lucknow). The meeting was started with the recitation of Chaitna Geet. All the participants were welcomed and the agenda of the meeting was shared with them. Then, the discussion was run according to the prepared agenda of the meeting. Major focus in the meeting was given on the flood preparation meeting at hamlet level and RSDC (Nepal) visit to Kaiserganj field in the month. 

A discussion was done on the major activities planned and implemented in the month of May, 14 and the follow up of these activities by animators at community level as a result seeking process. In the meeting, each animator has explained the conducted activities in their concerned Gram Panchayat (G.P), during the month.

For capacity building of the animators on the Gram panchayats and highlights of the 73rd Amendment in Indian Constitution regarding Gram panchayat by Krishan Murari and Ram Lakhan (Animators) and second session on Communication Skill was taken by Mr. Anil (Prog.Associate).

Following discussions were made in the meeting with animators as here:

  •  
    • Introduction and welcome of the animators was done and the agenda of the meeting was also shared with them.
    • Gram Panchayat wise discussion was done on the conducted activities in the month by the animators.
    • Discussion was done on the flood preparation meetings at the community level with HDC and community members to be prepared for facing the flood.
    • Group work on the flood preparation at community level, family level and role of the animators as the supporting hand to the community.
    • Session on the selected topics as mention in the agenda was taken by the animators and team member.
    • Discussion was done on the preparation for RSDC (Nepal) and Mr. Arno (MI) in the month of June, 2014.
    • HDC and Vocational training was also discussed with them to keep in follow up to the trainees.
    • The next month plan was shared to prepare the action plan for field movement and implementation of the planned activities for the month of June, 14.

Planned Activities in the month:

In the month of June following activities were planned at field level implementation:

Citizen Leaders’ monthly meeting will be conducted on date 5th June, 2014 at SSK Kaiserganj.

RSDC-Nepal and Mr. Arno Courver (MI) visit to Kaiserganj intervention area on 17th June, 2014.

Animators’ monthly meeting will be conducted on date 26th June, 2014 at SSK Kaiserganj.

*Flood preparation meetings with HDC and community will be conducted at Panchayat level in the month.

Street plays and puppet shows will be conducted in the month of June, 2014 which are continued since 26th May, 2014.

New DRR plan will be made in new gram panchayats in the month of June, 14

14. Monthly Meeting of Citizen Leaders

On 13th May 2014, the Citizen leaders’ Monthly meeting was organized at SSK-Kaiserganj field office and facilitated by the team. During the meeting, total 10 (08 male & 02 female) CLs have participated from 8 Gram Panchayats. The meeting was started with their welcome and short introduction to each other. It was discussed that video shows on the WASH movie have been conducted in the month in the evening through projector for developing visual impact on the community on fatal diseases due to unhygienic practices during the flood. During the CLs meeting, the following discussions and process was followed in the meeting:

  •  
    • Recitation of Chetna Geet was done before starting the meeting.
    • Introduction of all participants to each other was also done.
    • They were sensitized and motivated to understand the importance of participation in the monthly meeting of them.
    • Sharing of the conducted activities in the month was done with them for developing an understanding on programme progress and planned activities in the current month of May, 14.
    • Sharing of their experiences related to the programme, in the gram panchayat was also done.
    • Support was also required from them for conduction of video shows planned in the month for sensitizing the community on the WASH practices during the flood and in the whole life cycle for leading a healthy life. 

The WASH movie was also shown to them as named Karo Na…. for developing their understanding on importance of WASH practices during flood.

PROJECT
 

Empowering Muslim and SC community to have enhanced access to their rights related to equal opportunity for education and better health services

1. Collectivisation and Strengthening of Community Based Organisation (CBOs)

(a). Exposure visit of Mahila Samuh to Block Resource centres (BRC):

In order to capacity building and strengthening of CBOs an exposure visit for Mahila samauh to Block Resource Centre was organized for office bearers of Group. An interface meeting with BRC officials were conducted during the visit. Several issues were raised by the participants during the meeting. Ms. Kalpatti Devi told once she has visited school most of the teachers were absent and those   present would not take class. When she asked why don’t you taking class a teacher replied we will not take do whatever you can. Mr. Gopal Ram (BRC officials) ensured action will be taken against her after the proper investigation. Ms. Sushila raised the issue of SMC meeting is not being regularized. In this regard Mr. Gopal said that don’t mark signature until the SMC meeting is organized.  Another issue was raised by a participant from Wajidpur gram panchayat and demands a school to be opened in that locality as there is no school. In this regard he suggested another effective way and said meet with DM on Tehsil Divas and put their demand before him, he will surely take action.

(b). Sensitization Workshop  for adolescent girls:  

Collectivization to formulate CBOs and their strengthening is a major element of the project. Adolescent girls group is one of important CBO at community level. In order to their capacity building a one day sensitization workshop was organized on 27 June 2014. In this workshop 36 adolescent girls from Dhaurahar nyaya Panchayats were participated. The objective of the Workshop was to develop leadership skill of adolescent girls. Resource persons Dr. Sameeksha Baranwal was supported the entire event and discussed on maternal health related issues. Under the workshop sessions on self-development and self-actualization was facilitated. Every session was very well attended; some sessions got higher response than others in terms of participation. Adolescent girls enthusiastically participated in activities of the workshop and shared their experiences and challenges faced as an individual and as a women at personal and community level.

(c). Meeting with Citizen Leaders:

Citizen Leaders meeting was conducted at in three intervening blocks. In the   series of discussion health, education and nutrition related issues have been covered under which participants started sharing their views. In cholapur block, CL federation formation and its strategy was briefly discussed in the meeting. After that we had discussion over different government structure and about their offices in which we have gone through the education, health and ICDS department. In the meeting of Harahua, CL decided that they will approach to make immediate action to sort out the logging problem and also they demand for installation of the toilets as there are plenty of toilets available at the block.

2. Ensuring Quality Education and Better facilities Under RTE: 

 (A). School Development Plan Facilitated in Colapur and Harahua Block:

SSK extended support to SMCs in preparing School Development Plan at Nakchhedpur Gram panchayat of harahua block and Molanapur Gram Panchayat of Cholapur block on May 2014.  It was based on the premise that community themselves are best placed to identify areas for improvement and to implement changes that can bring about better outcomes for children.   The good thing about whole process was making the SDP using participatory techniques in which poor and marginalised sections recognize the value of popular collective knowledge and wisdom as well as legitimize the production of knowledge by the people themselves. SMC members along with School Authorities and PRI members of Village actively participated during the whole process of SDP. Wide range of challenges and problems like mid day Meal quality, absence of boundary wall in school, Re-bore of Hand pump, Cleanness school toilets, poor student teacher ratio, poor response from education department regarding requisition, application and appeals was discussed deeply during meeting. 

3. Enhancing Access to better health and nutrition services 

(a). District level workshop on ICDS in Ghazipur:

District level interface workshop on ICDS issue was organized on 26 May 2014 at Hoteal Shyam, Lanka Ghazipur. The objective of the workshop was to to build better cordination between different stakes on ICDS program for optimum utilization of scheme. In this workshop DPO, CDPO and representatives form local CSO were partcipated. Findings of citizen report card survey was shared in the workshop. All the presennt stakehoders given their view on the local issues and concered arises in the community. The entire worksho was presided by Mr. sudhir and Mr. sunil form SSK.

 (b). Interface Meeting with Front-line Service Providers:

One Day Interface meeting with ANM, ASHA, ICDS Supervisors & AWW was organized in Harahua, Cholapur and Saidpur Block during May 2014. Objective behind this meeting was to update and sensitize frontline service provider on prevailing ground situation. Problems related to health and Nutrition was core issue around which entire meeting was focussed. We have discussed on roles responsibility, status of services and hindrances coming in the way. Participatory approach was adopted to find out best probbable solutions. During meeting special emphasis was given on quality of supplementary nutrition, during discussion it was shared that there is delay in supply atend point andstorage system is not adequate which result in moisture and poor quality of ration. AWW also shared various problems related with inadequate honorarium, excessive record maintenance, Work overload, Logistic supply related, Lack of help from community and insecurity in their job.

 

RSBY Campaign 

(a). Monthly Meeting with RSBY beneficiary Group:

To ensure better implementation of scheme through community participation RSBY beneficiary group has been formed in intervening gram panchayat of cholapur, Harahua and Saipur block. RSBY smart card holder is the member of the group. The objective to formulate the group is to enable community in order to get maximum benefit of schemes through community participation. Total 20 RSBY group formed and their monthly was organized. In the meeting facilitators described the services provided under scheme. Some group member shared their experience of using smart card for the treatment. The toll free number and grievance readressal system also describes to them. All the group member infomrmed about the toll free number 180018004444 to register complain regarding RSBY.

(b). Three days Residential Training to RSBY Mitra:

From the community some citizen leaders has been identified and oriented on RSBY. They are called RSBY mitra, who will support RSBY beneficiaries at village level.  In order to capacity building of RSBY mitra three days residential training was organized at Hotal City Inn Varanasi. The major objective of the training was to build a cadre of community resource persons on RSBY and enable them to help and support RSBY beneficiaries at grass root level. The entire training was facilitated by Mr. Arshad and Mr. Santosh in the presence of Ms. Namita from PACS as an observer. Total 28 RSBY Mitras from Cholapur Block have been participated. In training services provided under scheme, challenges, role of related stakeholders and process of pre, during and post registration of smart card has been described. At the end of training three month action plan also prepared by RSBY mitra.

Chain of Change Agent (A functional Literacy Program for rural women)

 

(a). Launching of new project on Functional Literacy:

SSK is working towards empowerment of muslim and dalit community in 3 blocks of Varanasi and Ghazipur District which is part of Eastern Uttar Pradesh. The region is known for low literacy level of women, high drop out in girl's education after age of 13 years and other societal practices like early marriage of girls. As part of field level intervention SSK has created a strong cadre of 1200 plus CBO leaders who are advocating for their rights and access to services. These leaders are strong and quiet vocal.

Based on above context SSK envisage a project towards promoting life skill education for CBO leaders so that they are groomed as community change leaders. The project is supporting by Korean UNESCO. This life skill education coupled with functional literacy will enhance their vision and perspective.  The target population which is directly get benefit through this project are women. The project has been started from May 2014. Under the program 10 centres will be established at 30 Gram Panchayat of Cholapur and Harahua block.

(b). Selection of Tutors:

As part of the project 10 communities based tutors have to be selected to facilitate the functional literacy centres. These tutors are the same community and will work as catalyst to mobilize Women as well as responsible to run the centre. In this month 10 tutors are selected. The criteria has been decided as they are to be intermediate and from SC and Muslim community. A fair and transparent process has been adopted, which are-

  • Identification and listing
  • Field level screening
  • Family counselling
  • Written test and Personal Interview

A panel has been decided, who was responsible to entire selection process. As a result 10 female tutors; 5 from SC and 5 from Muslim Community has been selected. Majorly are young girls and very enthusiastic to work in the community.

Prawasi Pariwar Samuha

The monthly meeting of the Prawasi Pariwar Samuha has been conducted at their respective villages. This month group has discussed about their community issues for which they faced problem in their daily life. Follow up has done of last month work plan and work progress in group. In group meeting we also discussed about Government schemes and the process to get the benefit. In group meeting


ID card and Registration Camp

This month registration 4 registration camps organized respectively at Khapraila, Malhoi Saraya, Khamarya and Pandit Purwa GP of Khairabad block and 3 at Katra , Rama Lakhna and Biraicha of Parsendi block Sitapur. The purpose behind was do registration at Village level as well as Panchayats level. In this camp we invited Gram Pradhan and PRI members, to discuss the need of such ID cards. Through this camp the need of such cards and Haziary were discussed. This month 54 ID cards issued and distributed.


Mobile Kiosk

This month 3 mobile kiosks organized respectively at Galla Mandi market and BCM hospital road of Khairabad Block and 2 at Imalya weekly market, Mohhdinpur market at Parsendi block. Through this kiosk we reach out 500 (apprx) at both blocks. Through the kiosk the information regarding MRC services and also the information of registration for ID has shared. Beside this we also shared about the 16 scheme benefit of BOCW scheme.


Legal Literacy and Legal Counseling

5 Legal Literacy Camp organized at Ramalakhna, Johrapur, Suraypara of Parsendi block and Panditpurwa and Khamariya of Khairabad block. The purpose of the camp was to identify legal cases of the labor and create a platform for the labors to share their problems. In this camp we discussed about basic rights of labors related with their work. This month legal counseling organized at MRC Khairabad, new case registered and worked on old cases. Villagers of the respective villages acknowledged that there are varieties of problems with the migrant worker when he is out of his native place in search for his livelihood.


Enrollment Camp

Youth enrolment camp was organized at Itari of Parsendi block with the purpose of orienting the youth to the training programs organized by the SSK and to enroll the aspiring youth in to the training programs meant for the youths of migrant families. In the enrolment camp we adopted an approach to convey the message of the whole migration project with special focus on the skill training program. Our idea was to make the youth aware about the importance of skill training for the youth who belong to the migrant families through the enrolment camp as the skill training program is a necessary component of the migration project.


Employment Counseling Camp

Youth employment counseling camp was organized at its MRC Khairabad and Ilahi Bax Inter College of Parsendi block .The reason to organize this camp was to identify the deserving candidates for the training. A previous interaction done in the enrollment camp with this youth and called the shortlisted students in employment counseling camp. We hired resource person for the event as he has gained immense popularity among the participants of previous employment and counseling camp because of his fine oratory skill and grasp on the topic. In this camp we discussed about the job opportunities present at the market, the scope of skill training and the interest and selection of training traits of the candidates for the various training.


Collaboration with CLs Federation

CLs monthly meeting organized at MRC, Khairabad. In the meeting the annual work plan shared and on the basis of that the monthly plan also been shared. We discussed about the focus of the Migration project and the need of CLs support for the same.

Strengthening of Trade Base Collectives

6 Trade Base (Pillow Maker & Seller, Loha Loading g & Unloading, Domestic women’s worker) collective meetings held this month. The discussion was on group strengthening, LIC & JPA Policy, Govt. Schemes, Children’s education & Local Issues as identity proof, Rashan Card Renewal & new card apply, Bank Account Opening, PAN Card, SwalambanYojna (NPS Lite Scheme), Health issues, seasonal diseases, Sanitation etc. Main objective was to build capacities & to make forum to share about their issues. One new trade base group formed at Karpuripuram of Building Construction workers. This month 43 ID Cards issued and 24 ID card distributed.


Mobilization meetings

08 mobilization meetings organized at Mahendra Enclave, Razapur, Panchasheel Colony, Jhuggi Area, Kuti Area Loni Road, Bhopura, Loha Mandi, Nand Gram community and 4 LabourChowks in Ghaziabad regarding LIC & JPA Insurance Policy, New Group Formation, ID Card Registration, Legal Issues & Identification of legal cases, Legal Literacy, Govt. Schemes, Sanitation Issues, Bank Account opening, Rashan Card, Voter ID Card, NPS Lite Scheme, BOCW Registration, Education Issues as enrolments of children’s & her Local Problems. This month 15 BOCW registrations done and the registration organized at SSK, Ghaziabad office.


Mobile Kiosk

This month 5 mobile kiosks organized at Vijay Nagar Labor Chowk Loha Mandi Labor Chowk and Nandgram Labor Chowk. Near about 800 migrants covered through Kiosk. IEC materials distributed & ID card registration form fill up during Kiosk. In the Kiosk the information regarding 2SK, the importance of ID cards &the importance of LIC & JPA Policy, Contract/ Agreement of long work shared. Information regarding building & construction labors (BOCW) registration at labor office 16 schemes for building & construction labors shared. Beside this, Smart Card, Adhar Card & Govt. Pension schemes (NPS Lite) also shared.


Legal Clinic day

We organized the one Legal Clinic day on 24th May.14 at SSK office collaboration with S.P Singh Labour Court Advocate. During the Legal Clinic day 09 cases counseling has done related with payment of wage and 04 case mediation done at center with the help of advocate who contacting the contractor/landlord over telephone. 03 legal cases mediation done by MRC in May.14 & 45014.00 Rs. Wage payments received by labor from Contractor & Land Lord. During legal clinic day discussion was also on migrant’s rights, govt. facilities & schemes and 16 schemes for building & construction labors.


Linkage with Schemes

One of BOCW Registration camp organized at MRC (SSK office). 25 BOCW Registration done through this camp. We facilitated 01 Migrants for Shishu hit labh sahayata 12000.00 Rs. Under BOCW scheme labor Dept. Ghaziabad. Beside this 01 Bank account opening camp organized with collaboration with Shiwalik Bank at SSK Office on 15 May. 08 Bank Account opened during camp of migrants.


Interface meeting

01 Interface meeting organized with Trade base collectives at SSK office on 25 May.14. Discussion was on group unity, Types of Bank Accounts, Bank account opening & SHG account opening processes & it’s necessary documents, Bank Loan process, Saving Money, Sharing group experiences to other groups. Main objective was to build capacities & to make forum to share & action about their issues.

Health Camp

We organized the Health Camp at Razapur, Ghaziabad on 29 May.14. Total 111 migrants took free advice & medicine. In this camp 30 Male, 36 Female & 45 Children’s below 14 years are participated. The camp organized with collaboration to Asha Deep Foundation, Ghaziabad. Information regarding health education also shared among target group. Major Diseases identified during camp are seasonal fever, stomach disease as loose motion , cough, blood pressure, skin infection, skin allergy, lack of vitamin C & A in females & children’s, anemia in females.

SVTC, Lucknow Branch

Reliance PRAYAG: Currently we are running PRAYAG 2nd Batch and admission for the 3rd Batch is completed, & planned to be start from 2nd of June 2014. Prayag 4th batch's admissions is in process. 

Sewing course: sewing course in Lucknow is running successfully with the 4th batch. Currently three batches are running simultaneously with total of 30 students.

Mobile Repairing: Admission for the next batch is on process & will start soon

SVTC, Asnaha Gram Panchayat, Itaunjha Lucknow

Currently 4th batch of sewing is running in itaunjha with total of 12 girls & Registration for the next batch is in process.


SVTC, Hussainabad block, Jharkhand 

Currently we had started a new course of Painting, 1st batch of painting is running in mahuari gram panchayat (Jharkhand), with enrollment of 17 students. In Lotaniya 1st & 2nd batch of sewing are running in lotaniya gram panchayat with enrollment of 30 students (15 each).
