School Development Plan Facilitated at Saidpur
To make the education system more effective and to encourage participation of parents in the decision process and RTE Act, School Management Committee should perform the following functions like, Monitor the working of the school; prepare and recommend school development plan, monitor the utilization of the grants received from the appropriate government or local authority or any other source, perform such functions as may be
prescribed. Considering the role of SMC, SSK extended support to SMCs in preparing School Development Plan at Gopalpur Primary School of Saidpur Block on 26th February, 2014. The SDP is a strategic plan for improvement. It should bring together, in a clear and simple way, the school’s priorities, the main measures it will take to improve school environment and targets it intends to achieve. It was based on the premise that community themselves are best placed to identify areas for improvement and to implement changes that can bring about better outcomes for children. Community ownership and decision making leads to sustained self-improvement is therefore at the core of the school improvement. The good thing about whole process was making the SDP using participatory techniques has ‘break the silence’ of the poor and marginalized sections, recognize the value of
popular collective knowledge and wisdom as well as legitimize the production of knowledge by the people themselves. SMC members along with School Authorities and PRI members of Village actively participated during the whole process of SDP. Wide range of challenges and problems like Mid day Meal quality, absence of boundary wall in school, Re-bore of Hand pump, Cleanness school toilets, poor student teacher ratio, poor response from education department regarding requisition, application and appeals was discussed deeply during meeting.

Cross Boarder Exchange Visit to Nepal:

The SSKs DMRC team members Sadeque, Sanjay, Rakesh, Saroj Nisha, Asif and Anil visited RSDC, Nepal’s border side villages closet to river Karnali, these villages, is most beautiful, Life and people are simple but the crisis and ways of living is very similar to river bank residents of Ghaghra, lacks of access to WASH facilities, seasonal and flash flood, the lack of health of security, migration to nearby cities, Strengthening local communities, empowering marginalized groups and reducing inequality and how to involve adolescent girls in the program. The beauty part is the charming women are developing and become the only source of change agent for everybody's good.
The successful outcome of this cross border project encouraged the agencies involved to expand this initiative to larger scale intervention to address issues of WASH, EWS and livelihoods for flood prone communities on both sides of the border.
Lesson Learn

• Flooding situation is vary as in Nepal, it is flash flood and water flows down within two or three days while in India, there is a great problem of water logging for longer time (week/s). • RSDCs, Income Generation Groups (IGGs) activities are highly appreciable for adaptability in various ways and one of such are IGG concept with male and female cultivating the multi crop at the same time for increasing their income. • It has realized that both the country's in a crisis which despite the people's movement, despite the assistance and longing for development might turn without changement for years. • The Cross Boarder exchange visit was and will be an excellent opportunity for all of us to discuss, know, and feel ways in which true exchange can be strengthened through developing connectivity between Indo-Nepal and by weaving a wonderful garment of partnership between Malteser International. • Nepalese was much supportive in promotion of the programme and aware to their self development, shared latrines are an example of community inclusion in to avoid the open defecation for WASH, Harvesting is based on the technical methodology at IGG level.
Conclusion:
At the conclusion day, senior program coordinator Mr. Sadeque facilitated in developing a project concept note for the cross boarder exchange program where entire lesson learn and possibilities incorporated.
