Now is the Time to Begin Planning Your New Year's Resolutions

Change is never easy and old habits die hard, but meaningful and permanent change is possible armed with the right attitude and the right knowledge.

Start working on your plan now so that you are prepared to implement it with the new year.

Losing weight is one of the most common New Years Resolutions, yet as a country, we continue to have issues with our weight.

It's time for a fresh approach, one that is grounded in sound, scientific studies and one that acknowledges that our most basic instincts play a critical role in our actions.

Doug Lisle, PhD is incredibly knowledgeable on this subject and presents his findings in a humorous, enjoyable way.  I highly recommend two of his lectures, one of which is free online:

How to Lose Weight Without Losing Your Mind

His Willpower Paradox video is well worth the investment.  You can find it at the following link:

I also like to follow Chef AJ as she demonstrates in her videos how easy it is to adopt a whole food, low-fat, plant-based lifestyle.  In this 15-minute video, she shows just how easy and effective eating nutrient dense/calorie dilute can be:

Quick, Easy, and Nutritious Options for Lunch

I have some new recommendations for quick, easy, and nutritious options for lunch.  Now, would it be better to create lunches from scratch where we can control absolutely everything that goes in them?  Absolutely, and still try to do this as often as possible.  However, this is not always realistic and these products are great alternatives to the standard American lunch.  They work well if you very short on time.  Keep a stock of them in your freezer and grab them when you don't have time to pack a homemade lunch.

The Best Vegan Green Bean Casserole
By Susan Voisin, FatFree Vegan Kitchen

Here is one of my favorite holiday recipes created by my favorite plant-based chef.  I honestly think this recipe tastes better than any conventional green bean casserole recipe I have ever tried.  It calls for sherry, which gives it such a distinct flavor.  I actually double the sherry in the recipe because I love the flavor it imparts so much.

Susan asks that her recipes not be reproduced.  Just click on the link above for this delicious side dish.

Tis the Baking Season

The holiday season is upon us and just because you have adopted a whole food, low-fat, plant-based lifestyle doesn't mean that you can't create healthy baked treats that are incredibly tasty.
Knowing how to substitute traditional ingredients with healthy alternatives is more than half the battle.
I have found this cheat sheet to be very helpful.  I hope you do too!

Wishing all sentient beings peace and joy this holiday season!
