NEW YORK, NYNEW YORK, NY -- Nick Di iorio, the sole challenger to 22-year incumbent Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY-12) confronted her at the protest rally against the Metropolitan Opera's "Death of Klinghoffer" where he told her "It's time for us to debate." Maloney has refused all invitations to debate her opponent, who has accepted every invitation and has requested a "no notes rule" where he and Maloney would not be allowed to have notes in front of them.  Maloney required notes in her comments at the rally, the second one protesting the performance.  Both she and Di iorio were to appear at the first rally in September, but Maloney canceled at the last minute, while Di iorio attended, shortly after returning from a trip to Israel where he met with government leaders, civilians and members of the IDF.

Maloney responded that she would only show up at a candidates forum on October 28th held by the 17th Precinct Community Council.  At the forum she will speak for 20 minutes and take questions from the audience for 10 minutes.

Though this is Rep Maloney's 12th time running for Congress, she refuses to face her opponent, Nick Di iorio in a debate, though two invitations have been extended for both candidates - Columbia University College Republican and Democrat clubs, and Queens newspaper The National Herald.

"Not only will Carolyn Maloney not do her job as a candidate and debate me, she isn't doing her job in Washington," said Nick Di iorio.  "She has introduced more bills in Congress than anyone else that go absolutely nowhere after she issues her press release. Carolyn Maloney is not doing due diligence with her committee assignments, and has been publicly called out by the Oversight Committee Chairman for not understanding the substance of the issue at hand.  Carolyn Maloney also traveled to China pretending she had the ability and authority to adopt a panda for the Central Park Zoo.

"It's time for serious, sober representation in Washington, DC. It's time to clean up the corruption that Carolyn Maloney is a part of. It's time to focus on priorities that bring jobs to New York, rather than focusing just on saving Congresswoman Maloney's job," continued Di iorio.  "I want to debate Congresswoman Maloney on the important issues of the day:  Israel, ISIS, ebola containment, job creation and corruption in Washington, DC that is stealing our future.  It is unacceptable that she refuses to debate before this election."

Nick Di iorio, the Republican nominee, is the sole challenger running in New York's 12th Congressional District against longtime incumbent Carolyn Maloney.  Di iorio has also received support from members of the Independence Party, Libertarian Party, and Conservative Party.  The district includes the east side of Manhattan, Astoria, Long Island City, Greenpoint, & Williamsburg.  More at: www.nickfornewyork.com.
