NEW YORK, NY -- Rep. Carolyn Maloney's campaign manager, Grace Harman, attended and secretly videotaped Nick Di iorio's speech yesterday
evening. The event was held at Columbia University and hosted by the College Republicans.
It's a clear indication that Team Maloney is nervous about the Thursday debate hosted by The National Herald, which Nick Di iorio forced her into after a month of her dodging debates. Di iorio has also requested a "No notes" rule for Thursday, in which the candidates will use no prepared notes, electronic devices, or printed materials except for blank paper and writing utensils. In recent years, Maloney has relied on her team to brief her with notes and has occasionally stumbled without them, as seen in June's oversight committee hearing when she appeared confused and puzzled:

Maloney has taken great lengths to avoid debating Di iorio. In late September, The National Herald invited Di iorio and Maloney to debate - Di iorio immediately accepted and Maloney refused. In early October, Columbia Unviersity College Democrats and Republicans jointly invited Maloney and Di iorio to a debate, suggesting a range of dates in October. Maloney rejected the invitation. The Columbia University College Republicans followed up by inviting Di iorio to speak, which he did Monday.
Rep. Maloney will also be missing today's 17th Precinct Community Council Candidates' Night. As a result, the 17th Precinct Community Council has prohibited Nick Di iorio from speaking from the
podium during the planned forum for the two 12th District Congressional candidates. He will only be allowed to speak to people around the room ("work the room").
