News Updates

We had an amazing response to our January Don Dubuc Cajun Invasion Duck Hunt in Arkansas. The trip is sold out for the January 21st weekend. However, the lodge has extended our special package to any open dates they may have left. Any of our clients who book a 2-day minimum hunt will receive their last night's stay at no extra charge. Also, for the $400 a day duck hunt, you will also be able to hunt geese or bow hunt deer in the afternoon at no additional charge. This is for Trail Escapes clients only. Call us to check for available dates.

We still have a couple of openings for our December Cajun Invasion Deer Hunt in Alabama. The dates are December 1st to the 5th. The details are available on our website, www.trailescapes.com under the Cajun Invasion link.

The Best Time of the Year

Yep, it’s here at last. Archery season for deer is open; squirrel season is here and of course, football. It only gets better from now on. Duck season and gun season for deer will be upon us before you know it. Personally, as much as I wanted it to hurry up and get here, now I want it to slow down so we can enjoy each phase of the hunting season.

As we get back into the hunting season, think back and remember how you got your start in the outdoors. For many of us, there was a dad or older brother to teach us the skills we would use for a lifetime. Maybe it was someone else in your life; an uncle, a family friend. Whoever it was, they left a gift for your life. So now, make sure to pass that on to your own children or anoyheryoung person who may not have anyone else to teach them about the outdoors.  They are the future of our hunting and fishing world. Make sure they have the tools and gifts that we did.

Trail Tails

Hi to all my fellow canines out there, I’m a female chocolate Lab named Mousse. You know, sounds like moose. (Hey, they didn’t ask ME what I wanted to be named!) Anyway, my Dad, Dennis, owns Trail Escapes. Since he started this newsletter, I thought I should be able to put in a few barks of my own. After all, I AM in charge of keeping the employees on their toes. (It’s amazing what a cold nose to the back of a leg will do.) So I’m going to be doing my own little column each month, just for us dogs.

Well, Dad’s all excited that bow season is finally open. Big woof! Personally, I’m waiting for duck season to get here. (Yeah, I know, we had a early season for itty-bitty Teal,,,, REALLY??) Now look, I know lying on the couch eating Milk Bones and watching Lassie reruns is fun, but we’ve got to make sure we’re ready for the season. We can’t just leave it up to our masters (yes, I said that with a straight face,,, OK, not really) to keep us in shape. They’re only human, you know. So we’ve got to get more exercise, work on those practice retrieves and try to figure out what the heck all those whistles and hand signals are supposed to mean. Hey Dad, try texting for heaven sakes!!

Ok, that’s all for now. Till next time, keep your paws dry and your noses wet. You never know when a bare leg is gonna go by.

Our Featured Lodge of the Month

Great fishing is just steps away.

For the serious fisherman who also wants to relax, this is the place for you. You will enjoy great food in a comfortable setting, with friendly guides and staff dedicated to taking care of you. After a breakfast in the lodge, you can literally step out the door and into your boat.  Whether you want to go inshore fishing in the vast Louisiana marshes for Speckled Trout and Redfish or offshore for Tuna, Wahoo, Cobia or other species, this is a “one-stop-shop”. The lodge provides all the meals, accommodations, tackle, boats and guides for your fishing experience. Along with excellent fishing, you also have a choice of kayaking excursions and duck hunting in season.
