One Minute Tax Tip

DID YOU KNOW THAT YOU CAN TRACK THE STATUS OF YOUR IRS REFUND?

Now that you have filed your income tax returns, are you wondering when that IRS refund check will arrive in the mail or be directly deposited to your bank account?

I know that when the government has my money, I am sometimes skeptical about how long it will take them to give it back.  Do you feel that way, too?

Did you know that you can track the status online or even download the IRS2Go app for your smartphone to keep track of the status?

You will have to provide your Social Security Number, your filing status, and the expected amount of your refund.

If you want to go online, visit the irs.gov website.  Click on the picture on top that says: "Get Your Refund Status."

When should you check on the status of the return that you filed?  Information should be available within 24 hours of e-filing your return or 4 weeks after you mail your paper return.

Now you click on the link that says: "Where's My Refund?".  After that you need to enter your Social Security Number, your filing status, and the amount of your refund.

The website will give you the status of processing your return and refund and will let you know when to check back for an updated status or when the check will be mailed or deposited to your account.

Would you rather check it on your smartphone?  You can download the free IRS2Go app by visiting the iTunes store for Apple or on Google Play for your Android device.

Many states allow you to track the refund status online as well.  If you need additional information, please call the office at 914-997-7724.
