Cristiani Cruises to Victory to Cap Double-Header at Meridian
18-year old Delivers Dominating Win at Newly Adopted Home Track
BOISE, ID (July 28, 2013) Trevor Cristiani cruised to his second straight victory in as many nights and third win of the season in the CarbonX Rocky Mountain Challenge Series only appearance at the historic Meridian (ID) Speedway quarter-mile oval. The victory also extended his point lead in the standings and cemented his presence as one the top competitors in RMCS history.

The double-header weekend at Meridian featured a 75-lap race on Friday night sponsored by Project Filter and the the 5th annual NAPA Auto Parts Treasure Valley "125" on Saturday. Cristiani, who relocated to Meridian over the winter from northern California, swept the weekend winning both feature races and in the process lengthened his point lead over Montana "200" winner Jonathon Gomez.

While Cristiani was on cruise control from his 15th place starting position after winning the Sharp Powder Coating Fast Time Award Saturday night, A-1 Heating and Air Conditioning rookie competitor Chris Fenton drove to a second place finish for his best career series finish. 2012 RMCS champion Bruce Quale regained championship form finishing third and closing the gap in the standings with only three races left on the 2013 schedule. Tyler Bailey and A-1 rookie leader Hannah Newhouse rounded out the top five finishers.

"It was just an awesome weekend for the team," Cristiani said. "I really love this series and I am really happy to finally have some success at Meridian. It seemed like we always had some issues here in the past but winning two races in two days is incredible. My uncle come up to spot for me and he helped me a lot. The car was fast and a lot of fun to drive."

Completing the top ten in the final rundown were Morgan Rasmussen, Dennis Brodigan, John Newhouse, Dave Thomasson, and Rob Powers.

Cristiani also scored the Thompson Motorsports Hotshoe Award bonus which pays the driver who sets fast time for the race and goes on to win the main event $200. If the award is not claimed then it rolls over to the next race. The award at Meridian was worth $600. Cristani is the second driver to win the bonus this season. The Thompson Motorsports Hotshoe Award will be reset to $200 for the next race at Magic Valley speedway August 9.

With his pair of victories, Cristiani opens the gap in the point standings by 119-points over Jonathon Gomez who was involved in a nearly race incident ending his night on the hook.  Bruce Quale closed the gap on Gomez to within 45-points. Hannah Newhouse sits fourth with fellow rookie Chris Fenton rounding out the top five in the point standings.

The next race for the RMCS is another double-header Friday and Saturday August 9-10 at Magic Valley Speedway in Twin Falls, Idaho. The series finale is set for Saturday, September 7 at Rocky Mountain Raceways in West Valley, UT.

The RMCS utilizes a racing format not found in ANY other regional touring series around the country. The RMCS inverts up to the top 20 from qualifying putting the fast qualifiers at the back to start each race. This format ensures race fans see what they paid for and that is passing. Each driver is awarded three points per position gained in the event. Points are also awarded for qualifying and heat race finishes. Through the history of the series, the winning driver has averaged a 14th place starting position. To ensure competition, the RMCS pays it purse based on total point accumulation for the event and provides several special performance awards at each race.

The series is supported by a great family of sponsors including: CarbonX, Century Motorsports & Marine, Project Filter, Eibach Springs, A-1 Heating & Air Conditioning, Sharp Powder Coating, Five Star Racing Bodies, Hoosier Racing Tires, Thompson Motorsports, Security Race Products, Mr. Gas, Frank's Radios, Longacre Racing Products, Performance Solutions, Kidd's Performance and Dyno, Joes Racing Products, PPG Paint, Circle Racing Wheels, DJS Sports Marketing, and Mike Minegar's Auto Body.
