DEAR FRIENDS:
We're pleased to share with you some exciting developments in KACF-SF's organizational growth over the past few months. Young Sohn, President & Chief Strategy Officer at Samsung Electronics, recently joined our Board of Directors. Based in Silicon Valley, Mr. Sohn is responsible (among other things) for accelerating open innovation in new and emerging technologies being developed worldwide. On an operational front, we received our own 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status from the IRS in May, making us a fully independent nonprofit!

We also launched this year's grantmaking cycle in May and kicked things off with information sessions for community service organizations in the Bay Area interested in learning about our grants program. Articles appeared in Korean-language media including the Joong-Ang Ilbo.

A key element of our approach to grantmaking is a participatory process, through the Community Grants Committee (CGC). We invite members of the community to learn about the issues in our community and contribute to furthering KACF-SF's mission by participating on the CGC. (Please see below and apply by Aug. 14th to get involved!)

To support our grantmaking, we are hard at work on our first major fundraising event -- a golf tournament on Sept. 14th. (See below for details.) So far, we've raised more than $40,000 in sponsorships! Please come out to play golf or just to lend your support and have fun!

Thank you for your support of our mission to empower the most vulnerable in our community and foster philanthropic giving among Korean Americans.

KACF-SF GOLF CLASSIC: REGISTER TODAY!

Registration for KACF-SF's Inaugural Golf Classic is underway! Space is limited, so reserve your spot today by registering online or by mail. We hope you can join us for this unique event on September 14, 2015 at the Palo Alto Hills Golf & Country Club!

Not a golfer? You can still join the fun and meet like-minded folks while helping the Korean American community, by registering as a non-golfer or by joining us for cocktails & dinner (along with silent and live auctions and raffles). And don't forget, there are still sponsorship opportunities and in-kind donation options if you can't attend but would still like to contribute.

All event proceeds will go to support KACF-SF's critical work addressing the most pressing needs of Korean Americans in the greater San Francisco Bay Area area.

For more information, visit the
KACF-SF Golf Classic site.

PARTICIPATE IN KACF-SF'S GRANTMAKING WITH THE 2015 CGC

We are pleased to invite you to join the 2015 Community Grants Committee (CGC), KACF-SF's participatory grantmaking body. Members of the CGC are volunteers who work in small teams to review grant applications, gather information during site visits, and make recommendations for funding that will be considered by the KACF-SF Board of Directors.

As a member of the CGC, you'll have an opportunity to learn about issues affecting the Korean American community and grassroots solutions, as well as apply your own expertise and professional/personal experience in helping the Foundation invest in our community.

Learn more about this unique opportunity here. To apply for the CGC, please complete and submit the application by Friday, August 14, 2015.

The Korean American Community Foundation of San Francisco (KACF-SF) provides grants and capacity-building assistance to community-based organizations serving the needs of vulnerable Korean Americans in the greater Bay Area. KACF-SF is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Your donations are tax deductible.
