It will be available as of tomorrow at 2pm!
As a Welcome Back 9478N promo, we will be offering the Arrow for $100/hr until September 30th! Please take advantage of this promo to get re-familiar with the plane or get checked out in it.

45278's flight across the country and back!

Did you follow 45278's trip across the country? We did! Check out the pictures we posted on Facebook and Twitter!

45278 went on a long flight this summer, starting out from KBDR, then heading all the way to Washington state, before heading up into British Columbia, Canada. They then made their way back through Canada, before entering the states again in North Dakota before heading back home.

Here are some pictures showing the trip, but please check out the album on Facebook and the posts on Twitter to see all of the photos we were sent during the trip!

Pilot Supplies and Charts

Don't forget that BSF is selling pilot supplies! We know that we lost most of our display cases and everything isn't displayed out in the open like it used to be, but we are still selling everything a pilot could need! Please don't forget to ask us if you are looking for a particular item.

BSF is asking for your help...

Sky Scheduler
We have been noticing that a lot of people are not checking out & in from their flights. We ask that you do this before and after each of your flights because we would like to remind everyone that our bookkeeping system is connected to sky scheduler. In order for it to work together correctly, we do need all flights to check out AND in. This way, you will be able to see an accurate amount due or your credits on sky scheduler.

If you have any questions about how to do this, or if you are not able to check in due to BSF not having your paperwork needed for check-out, please contact Kelly.

Tie downs

We would like to remind everyone to tie down the planes correctly and securely after each flight. We have been noticing a higher number of helicopters landing near the BSF planes, and we are asking everyone to make sure that the planes are tied down correctly after your flight to reduce the risk of damage the airplanes could sustain if they become untied due to a poorly tied knot.

Gust Locks

We have been noticing that people are forgetting to put the gust locks in some of the planes after flights.
If there are heavy winds and a gust lock is not in place, this could severely damage the plane. Please make sure to put the gust lock in after every flight.

Canopy Closings

We have noticed that sometimes people are not closing the canopies correctly, and there is still a gap in between the seals, leaving the canopy open. If this happens and it rains, this could damage the interior. Please make sure there is not a gap when you lock the canopy.

If you have any questions, please ask an instructor or someone in the office about any of these issues.

Instructor Changes...

Everyone will soon be seeing a change in instructors on sky scheduler. Sebastian will now be part-time and will be off of sky scheduler. He will still be instructing, just not as often as he was. If you would like to fly with him, you will need to contact him to discuss flight times. We are also requesting that you put his name in the 'Comment' section when scheduling a flight so that we know who you're flying with.

We will also be welcoming a new instructor. Some of you may have met her in the past couple weeks she's been around. Her name is Kathy, and she is a CFII who just moved back to Connecticut from Michigan where she received her training at Andrews University in Berrien Springs. She has been trained in the Tigers to perform to the same standards as all of our instructors.

Congrats to...

Fuel truck to rescue truck to IFR Certificate!

Since, March 2006 Blue Sky Flight has had many success stories of Pilots receiving multiple licenses and add-ons. On Tuesday July 30th there has been a story of ambition, determination, and hard work that should be shared with everyone.

Most of you who frequent BSF know Jean Paul Chacur. JP was a line service tech when we first met him at Blue Sky Flight 4 years ago when he began training for his instrument rating. While away from his wife and 2 daughters who were living in his native country of Argentina he worked two jobs and spent 7 days a week at the airport working and training.  Roughly 2 years ago he began to work for Bridgeport Airport Operations. A year after that JP was finally able to gain US citizenship for his wife and 2 daughters. For the past year, having his family close by his side, he has continued to work full time and train for his IFR. On Tuesday July 30th with 36 hours left until his written test would expire, JP took his IFR checkride and received his certificate.

After 4 years of hard work while juggling multiple responsibilities JP's long time goal was reached. Because of his dedication and his passion for aviation, JP never gave up no matter what the world threw at him.

Everyone involved with aviation and training for certificates knows that it requires a lot of work and focus. It takes a special and passionate person to make that commitment. Everyone at BSF shares this passion and we are proud to have all of our students as customers as well as fellow aviation enthusiasts.

We hope these success stories of ambition and determination will add to your personal motivation. BSF always recognizes when one of our pilots reaches their goal. Next time you see JP or any one of our other newly certified pilots take a moment to congratulate them on their hard work.

Congrats JP!!!
