Three Junes in Rome
For three years, Pennsylvania artist Patrick Connors taught a workshop and painted in Rome each June. He forsook his usual medium — oil — and concentrated on pen-and-ink, gouache, and watercolor while working in Italy. Back in the United States, he would make studio paintings from his references. An exhibition currently on view at the Clark Gallery, in Banner Elk, North Carolina, presents some of those pieces.
